The Israeli occupation regime has informed international mediators in the Gaza conflict that it has no plans to withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor, located in southern Gaza along the border with Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
According to Israeli sources, this decision hinges on the possibility of extending the current ceasefire. However, the Hamas Resistance Movement condemned Israel’s stance, arguing that it violates the prisoner exchange agreement set for Day 42 of the truce. Hamas emphasized that the only path to the release of Israeli captives in Gaza is through negotiation and adherence to the agreement.
Resistance Denounces Israel’s Delays
Amid the escalating tension, Hamas declared that it has closed the door on Israel’s false excuses for delaying the second phase of the agreement, warning that persistent Israeli attempts to stall or block the deal would only increase the suffering of prisoners and their families.
Hamas also reiterated its full commitment to the ceasefire, including all terms and clauses, and expressed its readiness to engage in negotiations for the next phase of the pact.
Call for International Pressure
The Resistance Movement urged international mediators to intensify pressure on Israel to honor its commitments under the agreement. Hamas also criticized some nations for displaying a “double standard” in addressing the issue of Israeli prisoners, while neglecting the plight of Palestinian detainees facing harsh conditions in Israeli prisons.
